How I’m dressing myself after 40lbs of baby weight (while nursing)

As I plan ahead for Spring, I’m getting so excited to develop my mom style. You see, I’ve gained 40 lbs between my 2 pregnancies. My body holds onto body weight when I’m nursing and it’s oh so fun. I nursed my son for 3 years. Maybe one day I’ll share why I nursed for so long but for now, just know I was nervous to ‘restart’ when we had our 2nd baby. (Turned out to be no big deal. Love that for us.)

Anywho, 40 lbs means I’m a new woman. I’ve finally purchased new jeans that actually fit — yay for growing up and not stuffing myself into something that doesn’t fit.

Pre babies, I’ve loved linen. I had a gorgeous linen dress that I strive to wear again someday but alas I’m a motha and it’s time to wear what I love in a different fashion. So linen, sweaters, real fibers it is. I want to look like Jane Adler with a glass of wine in her Santa Barbara home (if you got the reference, thank you. i love you.) A Monticeto mother if you will. I want to look like a west coast, care free, woman running an empire while looking out the window of their beach house on a cliff. Ya feel me? But we’re in Ohio so we’re going to be the vibe.

The first place I’m looking? Quince.com Real, non synthetic fibers. No plastics on my skin. Feeling luxurious. Here is what I’m eyeing. Comment below, should I buy them?

Mongolian Cashmere Crewneck Sweater

Oh how I love this! Imagine draped over your shoulders or worn like the photo above? This could be worn so many ways but I think I’m most excited to see how it pairs with the Poplin Tiered Maxi Dress!

Mongolian Cashmere Tee

So many great colors of this tee! I’ll stick to Ivory for now — the versatility is so wonderful!

Mongolian Cashmere Oversized Boyfriend Cardigan Sweater

There is nothing more cozy than an oversized cardigan. I imagine I’ll pair this with jeans and Poplin sleeve shirt or linen pants for a quick coffee run in the mornings. I love the brown color too!

100% Organic Cotton Poplin Tiered Maxi Dress

I’ve worn the Anthropologie version of this dress SEVERAL times - often rented in different prints from Nuuly for my wedding work. I love this navy one but also a striped version they occasionally have online. I love that this one is natural fibers too.

100% European Linen Pants

Ok listen to me.. when I first ordered these pants I was shocked at how stiff and thick they were. The target linen pants always start so thin and cozy from the start. I should have known.. Our linen sheets from West Elm started out scratchy and quickly turned into our FAVORITE sheets. Much like those sheets, these pants will quickly soften and become your favorite pants too. I’m going to start with the white pant this spring. I can’t believe I don’t have a plain white linen pant yet!

100% Organic Cotton Poplin Long Sleeve Shirt

I feel like a button up shirt is such a 30 year old thing to love. lol! But thanks to Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, I’m LOVING the vibe. I can’t wait to look like my mom did when I was growing up in the 90s. lol! I will be buying both stripe and white.

100% Organic Cotton Knit Blazer

This Knit blazer has been in my closet since Christmas of 2024. The amount of wear I get out of it is insane! I have about 15 more lbs since Christmas of 2024 so its a little tight right now but it. still. looks. goooood! Stretchy, soft, elevated.

100% European Linen Maxi Skirt

To mention Jane Adler from above, I think this is my Jane Adler, wine in hand skirt. Maybe I’m hosting a dinner party on the patio while wearing this? Hydrangeas everywhere… count me in!

100% European Linen Shorts Pajama Set

THIS is the set you can find me in while drinking coffee during morning playset time. The golfers passing by will assume I’m dressed for the day, right?? At least that’s what I’ll tell myself.

Friends, I’m so excited for this spring and summer season. 4 year old baby weight and all.
