Needlepointing. My new favorite hobby.

Let’s chat about my current favorite things. Over the holidays I became obsessed with embroidery. It slowed my mind down and allowed me to focus and escape to something that wasn’t my phone. Let’s be honest, doom scrolling only makes us feel like crap.. doom and gloom if you will. I started out my embroidery journey a little ostentatious. I’m not one to attempt something half way. I either do what I want to do the first time or skip it all together. I was that way with waterskiing — you can keep the double ski, I’m going to slalom my first go.. and that just I did. Anywho, in the middle aisle of the hobby lobby racks I found an embroidery kit — Merry Christmas stitched in gold and a few flowers here and there. After stitching for a few hours, I was hooked. But you know what.. the ladies of tiktok are Needlepointing and I’m not one to miss out on a trend SO to the needlepoint store I went.

Initially I was holding the infamous Chill Pill in my hand but the price tag wasn’t friendly enough for me to accept that beginner friendly canvas. (However now that I skipped the Chill Pill, I’ve found multiple scenarios that I would have loved to place that Finished canvas in front of my husband. lol) A quote canvas caught my eye — Guests, like fish begin to smell after three days. The sweet lady at the store ensured that I could do this canvas as a beginner. We quickly kitted the canvas to match our lake house colors (lol to anyone staying with us) and I was out the door with a quick “don’t tell my husband how much I just spent!” smile. One the drive home I called my mom.

Growing up, I would giggle at all of the clothes, rugs, tapestries, and framed items my great grandmothers had passed down. Turns out I couldn’t giggle anymore, the quirky canvas that spoke to me happened to be one of my great grandmothers most repeated quotes according to my mom.

I quickly stretched the canvas once I got home. I was a little nervous to start stitching but once I convinced myself I could redo anything that didn’t look good, I was accepting. I’m one week into my first needlepoint and I am already searching for my next set. You ready to see my very first WIP?

(Now watch me ney ney.. ;)

Check out this currently in stock Golden Retriever with an american flag. OMG! Would be an easy starter canvas.
